Dark State

An Investigative Guide to the Permanent Power Behind the Elected Government

What This Book Is

Who actually holds power between elections?

Every generation rediscovers the same unsettling fact: the people you elect are not the only people who govern you. Dark State is a fully sourced field guide to the parts of American power that don't appear on a ballot — the two-million-person federal bureaucracy that outlasts every president, the multibillion-dollar lobbying industry, dark money and the super PAC system, the revolving door between agencies and industry, the military-industrial-intelligence complex, and the handful of platforms that now shape what the country sees and believes.

Every figure is tied to a named source — federal disclosure databases, court opinions, congressional investigations including the 1975–76 Church Committee report, and the published work of nonpartisan research organizations. Where estimates disagree or a claim can't be verified, the book says so, rather than resolving it by guesswork.

"Readers looking for a documented account of how unelected power actually accumulates in a modern republic — through money, secrecy, revolving doors, and concentrated ownership — will find the receipts in every chapter."

A note on what this book is not

This is not a book about the Illuminati, the Bilderberg Group as a ruling world council, a Federal Reserve owned by a handful of banking dynasties, or any version of the claim that a hidden council of families secretly directs world events. Chapter 16 is a full case study in where that specific claim came from, why it survived for over a century, and why it is a documented forgery — not a suppressed truth.

About Rev. George H. Stoddard

GS

Rev. George H. Stoddard

Rev. George H. Stoddard is an ordained minister, Southern Gospel songwriter and producer, and the founder of RockRevster Records/Productions. Writing under his own name, he is a prolific author of Christian nonfiction, verse-by-verse Scripture study guides, American history and civics references, and investigative nonfiction, self-published under the Booklyn imprint and In His Hands Ministries International.

His civics and investigative titles include Three Branches of US Government, a comprehensive guide to the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and The Real Failures of 9/11, an investigative account of documented pre-attack intelligence and response failures. Dark State: Who's Really In Charge continues that line of work, applying the same primary-source discipline he brings to his Scripture study guides — always sending the reader back to the original text — to the harder record of how power actually moves through modern American institutions.
